Interesting Week

As you all know, it's been kind of rough around here for quite a while. It all came to a head for me yesterday as I got to spend several hours not doing so well. Apparently, the stress and the extreme heat combined to give me a hypertensive episode and it caused my heart to beat abnormally for a while. Today, I feel like I have been run over by a train.

The fight to keep the garden going is over. The fight to keep the hay equipment going is over. The fight to keep the lawn mower going is over.

Maybe next year will be better.......

  3. Still praying for you guys!Don't despair things will get better. I think the rough garden thing is going around everything has failed for us but cukes and onions so far. The tomatoes are rotting before they ripen and the plants are fried up, plus the weeds have now overtaken everything. Do you guys have enough food, hay, and animal feed to get by?

  4. we've all run into this at some point in our lives. Hell, some of us have had our whole lives go this way! One thing I've learned is that generally, if you just stop fighting for a few days, rest, those like you (with the fighting spirit) will bounce right back.
You fight every day, you'll come back swinging. Prays for you my friend.

  5. I don't blame you a bit. We threw in the towel on the gardens and the lawn a week or so ago. So see there, you are a bit stronger or hard headed than we are. You lasted a week longer.

  6. My friends with gardens often just quit because the heat ruins their crops. It happens. It seems there is absolutely nothing to be done. Rest a bit, then you can see your way to keeping equipment going. Maybe the garden will have a comeback of sorts. I do feel the same way some days. Take care of your health first.

  10. Don't think of it as quitting...think of it as a strategic retreat. I have been thinking that Mother Nature is working against me with my garden too. Weeds and beetles took the blackberries, heat, too much rain and then drought has kept me from having tomatoes...weeds are prolific in what is supposed to be a garden. The only thing I have right now is a mess of green beans and some zinnias. So..a strategic retreat and will come back with a fall garden that has to be better than what I have now!

  11. When I get overwhelmed with yard, garden, projects, etc. I just remember that soon the snow will come and cover them all up and I won't have to look at them *grin*.
