There is nothing going on here at all. What a day. It's sloppy and muddy out with more icky weather on the way. The groundhog was right, 6 more weeks. I thought about starting seeds this morning but I decided to work on some cheese instead. The darn kids are eating it on me about as fast as i can get it done.
Still nothing for work around here, we were told at an interview yesterday that we were over qualified! That's not helping. We put the last of the money in the fuel tank this morning and we'll be taking some cans to the recycler tomorrow. What a life.
Soon as this little cold snap rolls past us here in southern Illinois, I'll be starting seeds.

ReplyDeletechicken looks a bit perkier, but is coughing now instead of sneezing...daughter thinks we're going to get "bird flu". lol
We're expecting between 18 and 24 inches starting tomorrow around noon. I'll probably lose 2 days of work and then some. I am soooo ready for spring.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried selling on etsy? Seems several of the gals in the homesteading/homeschool movement sell through them. I don't know about edibles, but soaps are certainly popular now. Any gift shops in your area that might sell them on commission? Even fabric shops sell such items. ~Liz
The picture of your dog is perfect for the feeling of the post. Over qualified? Who cares? If you don't mind, then why should they? Good grief! Over qualified, under qualified....is there such a thing as perfectly qualified? Ugh. Sorry, MM. Still praying.

ReplyDeleteWe live in Western Illinois. How do you grow coffee in Illinois? or tobacco? I can't imagine either one thriving here.
ReplyDeleteActually, both do well here, tobacco can be grown in Canada even and the coffee is a container grower that lives indoors during the colder months. Coffee loves humidity with filtered sunlight.
ReplyDeleteI got your cheese yesterday and thought that I would save it for something special. Well, that something special happened about 5 minutes later. I mean, I just got some cheese in the mail. What better reason is there to celebrate than that? I reluctantly gave a small piece to my wife and my son. What a mistake. Now they think they are going to get more. Anyway, it is wonderful. I highly recomend it to anyone out there.
ReplyDeleteI hate overqualified.. cause surly you wont stay as an employee because you will get board and you wont be challenged. Good gosh ... I use to think I wanted a profession... it turned out all i really wanted was a paycheck. I live so I can sit and look at my wife in my kitchen over dinner ... not so I can get satisfaction for producing for others. Julie and I have decided to add you to our prayer list... Oh and i enjoyed the podcast !

ReplyDeleteI found another blog that you might like. http://1greengeneration.elementsintime.com . They emphasize sustainability, but don't have the Midwest sensibility that you have. I disagree with 85% of what they post, but they do have the occasional good article without the unicorn chasing or writing poems under rainbows.
