It has rained all week here, sometimes just a light drizzle and then the downpours. 1/2" in the gauge this morning, Wednesday had 3/4". The constant overcast is a bit depressing, so many unfinished projects here that the mud and rain are putting on hold. I spent some time in the front garden this morning pulling grass and weeds. I had to give up when my fingers got so water logged I couldn't grip the stuff to pull it out. Didn't hardly put a dent in it! I'm almost afraid to go out back and look at the corn patch. Forecast is calling for rain every single day next week too. I don't know when I'm going to get the beans in! Maybe I'll have to mud them in! I'd really prefer to cultivate the ground so the weeds are at least knocked down a little but that may not be an option.
Crazy weather we're having......
Weather really is crazy MM. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

here in western KY our weather has been crazy too. I had to run out between downpours and get seed in. A few yrs ago in weather like this I laid a bord across my garden and used my hoe handle to poke little holes in the ground, then drop in bean seeds. This year I am sprinkling tiny seeds on top and covering with straw or cardboard till it sprouts. But I was fortunate enough to have had my garden tilled b4 the rain started.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be another "feast or famine " year!
ReplyDeleteHope it straightens out soon!
LOL, not laughing at you but with you. I sorta had to mud my beans in last week. Rain and more rain, then nothing for a month is the way it goes here. Up to your eyeballs in water one day and carrying it to the garden the next. Hang in there girl, we all got to much riding on our garden to ever give in.

I hear ya Chris, I'm trying to keep a good front up during all this rain ;) YOu should see the baby maple trees growing in the corn patch! LOL If it doesn't rain overnight, I'll be in good shape to plant beans tomorrow. I got some weeding done in the front garden today...
